MPS GARDEN MACHINERY
MPS Garden & Estate Machinery is a family run business which has been established since 1995. There has been a garden machinery business on this site since the 1950s.
Our staff has a wealth of experience in the garden machinery industry and can offer advice on all makes of machinery, from new and second hand sales to spares and servicing and repairs.
The History of The Old Forge, Church Street, Effingham.
The Old Forge was originally a Blacksmiths. This half of our premises is our workshop.
Where our current shop/office building stands used to be a public house called The Blacksmiths Arms.
This pub was knocked down in the 1960s and replaced by an office building, which formed part of the company Surrey Power Machines.
Don’t worry, we still have some great pubs in Effingham! For instance The Sir Douglas Haig pub which is immediately behind us!
Surrey Power Machines went on to become called Multipower Ltd, which was owned and run by Lionel and Teresa Watson.
Finally the business was sold to the Belsham family in 1995 and the name was changed to MPS.
These old photographs were kindly provided to us, and take pride of place on the stairs in our showroom.
We love being a long-standing part of the Effingham community, providing a service to the greater Surrey area as MPS for over 20 years.
